Tonight is ArtsNight! We are almost ready…and so looking forward to seeing students, friends, family and the greater community come together to celebrate all the great work. Wall to wall paintings here at GCC… getting ready for the big opening this Thursday! The Art Student Exhibit features work from the past academic year. Please join us for the opening reception and to celebrate our INCREDIBLE students on Thursday, April 16th from 7-9 pm.

The paintings here are from ART 241 Painting 1. In addition to larger in class paintings, Kelly Popoff asks her painters to paint multiple small paintings weekly that are under 30 minutes to experiment, build skill and muscle memory. 💥

Exploring digital and physical decay, this Computer Arts I student manually corrupted the code of images of decaying matter to create a parallel between erosive cycles.

Adding words and collaging code by opening media with Text Edit, they projected the results back onto the organic matter and layered their custom code on top. The breakdown of images weaves through the material breakdown and compost of the natural world. 🌱 📀

Here`s a few details from the Daily Drawing Projects done in Drawing II this semester. They completed 5 small drawings per week for 6 weeks focused on a specific theme. At the end, they experimented with the editing process to organize, eliminate and clarify their ideas. Everyone did a fantastic job with this project!
