Queer Figure Drawing GCC event

Queer Figure Drawing

Monday November 10 - 12:00pm

S112 Drawing Studio

Join the GSA for a relaxed queer figure drawing session—all skills (or no skills!) welcome! Connect with community while practicing drawing from life in a supportive, affirming space. This self-led session encourages creative exploration and celebrates queer and body-positive representation. Bring your own materials if you have them—but if you don't, just bring yourself! Paper and drawing supplies will be available; we’ll also be looking for peer volunteers to serve as clothed audience models. All students of all gender and sexual identities (and all levels of drawing experience) are welcome! Feel free to drop in for any part of the session and bring your lunch. Can’t make it but still want to connect? Email walkerk@gcc.mass.edu for an invite link to the GSA’s Discord server.

Greenfield Community College sits today on the homelands of the Pocumtuck, Norwottock, Woronoco, Agawam, Nipmuck and Abenaki. Native peoples still live here. This land was the site of warfare during the Battle of Great Rivers Falls, and the outcome of that war forever changed the people, land and waterways that some call the Connecticut River Valley. Respecting and acknowledging indigenous connections to this land is a first step in a long process of self-education. As new findings reshape our understanding, we commit to the work of decolonizing our thinking regarding our region’s history. We also give gratitude for nearby waters and lands, on which we depend to sustain life and wellbeing. We are all interconnected.

Land acknowledgment endorsed by the DEISC 9/13/24; endorsed by College Council 9/20/24; endorsed by President's Staff 10/2/24; endorsed by GCCPA 10/7/24
