GCC offers several options for credit by examination.

Study guides for some challenge exams are available in the Testing Center (C110) or Office of Admission (C103).

Eligible Courses

The following courses can be challenged for credit (in-person only):

It is also possible to earn credit for the following classes if you can demonstrate prior language experience:

  • FRE 101 Elementary French I
  • FRE 102 Elementary French II
  • SPA 101 Elementary Spanish I
  • SPA 102 Elementary Spanish II

Register
You must have a student ID number in order to pay your challenge exam fees. If you do not have a student ID, or don’t know how to find it, please contact the Office of Admission or the Academic Advising Center for help.
  1. Complete the registration form to have the testing fee added to your account.
  2. Student Financial Services will notify you by email once the fee is assessed.
  3. Log into MyGCC to pay the fee; you will be notified by email once you can schedule your exam.
  4. Schedule an appointment once you’ve received a confirmation email from Student Financial Services (challenge exams are only available in person).
