Please wear comfortable clothes and secure shoes (no Crocs or sandals). 27 0 Open Last month the crafting club celebrated Black History Month with a painting project inspired by trailblazing African American artist Alma Thomas. Alma was the first graduate of Howard University`s art program, and carved a space for herself in a predominantly white and male-dominated art world in the `60s. She was the first Black woman to have a solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art. She was a leader in the color field painting style and Incorporated nature and the cosmos into her work. Participants made miniature Alma- inspired abstract paintings using her signature style. Craft club meets on Mondays at noon in the Dining Commons - come join us!
