Graphic Design Intern Overview Under the direction of the Marketing Director and in accordance with the policies of Franklin County’s YMCA, the Intern will assist the Marketing Department with advertising, marketing, public relations and media, developing and demonstrating an understanding of the YMCA mission, programs and its impact on the community. Intern Responsibilities • Assist in creation of small design projects. This may include: promotional fliers, brochures, print advertisements, website content revision and updates, and more. • Create and assist with eblasts, social media content, and digital marketing through our social media outlets. • Assist in documenting YMCA events through photography and writing. • Assist in writing radio spots, press releases, PSAs, etc. • Gain general knowledge of all YMCA programs, events and camps. • Participate in additional meetings and FCY-wide events as appropriate such as Healthy Kids Day, Golf Tournament, Strongman, etc. • Assist the Marketing Director with any other functions deemed appropriate for the Intern. • Exemplify the YMCA values of CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT AND RESPONSIBILITY in all aspects of job performance and in relationships with others. Preferred Qualifications The Graphic Design Intern should be pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Communication, Advertising, Marketing or related field. This position requires creativity as well as strong initiative to see projects through from beginning to completion. The Graphic Design Intern should be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite or Canva, and have strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills. Intern has ability to understand brand consistency, follow brand guidelines and has an eye for detail. Intern is capable of producing high quality and to manage several tasks simultaneously. Additional skills in photography, social media and website content management are preferred. Valid license and reliable transportation required. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. Hours Per Week 5-10 Desired Outcomes 1. Intern gains practical graphic design/marketing experience working in a YMCA environment. 2. Intern is well-connected to other staff and has the opportunity to make many community contacts. 3. Intern gains experience in public relations, promotions and special events. 4. Intern gains experience is design and digital communication. 5. Intern knows the YMCA’s mission and vision and understands the Association’s impact on the community. Compensation $15-17/hour
