Marketing and Communications Intern

Overview

The Marketing and Tourism Communications Intern will support marketing efforts that position our organization as a key player in the local tourism industry. This role combines creative content creation with a focus on destination marketing and business promotion. Interns will gain hands-on experience in developing communication strategies that attract visitors, enhance local partnerships, and showcase regional highlights.

Intern Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating engaging content for digital and print media that highlights local businesses and business opportunities.
  • Develop and execute social media campaigns to promote events and member businesses.
  • Conduct research on tourism trends and emerging markets to support campaign strategy.
  • Work with the Director to design promotional materials, newsletters, and social media content.
  • Collaborate with local tourism and business groups to support destination branding initiatives.
  • Monitor social media channels and website analytics, providing insights for optimization.
  • Support in developing press releases and communication pieces for events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a marketing, communications, tourism management, or graphic design program at a community college.
  • Strong written communication skills and creativity.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
  • Interest in destination marketing, tourism development, and business promotion.
  • Basic graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Suite or Canva) are highly desirable.
