We Don't Have It?

Are you looking for an article, book, video, etc. that the GCC library doesn't own? You have a couple of options.

What are you looking for?

I'm looking for an article in a journal, magazine, or newspaper. I found a citation in a library database or online, but the full text wasn't available.

Use our Discovery Search to see if we own that journal, magazine, or newspaper in print or in any of our databases. Enter the title of the publication and, if we have it, you will see a “search within publication” option. There is a video tutorial to help you navigate this tool.

You can also try searching Google with the article title in quotation marks. Sometimes, authors will have made the article available freely online on a personal website or through their institution’s library.

No luck with either the journal locator or Google? We can order it for you from another library. Fill out a form for Interlibrary Loan (it’s free!).

I'm looking for a book or video or other item that isn't in the GCC library collection.

We share our library catalog with 144 libraries in central and western Massachusetts (CWMARS). If there is something you are looking for that we don’t have, you can search the other libraries and have any material delivered to the GCC library free of charge. Simply search the catalog and click the blue “All Libraries” button. There is a video tutorial available to help you use the catalog.

If you cannot find the material you’d like from CWMARS, you can search the Commonwealth Catalog, which consists of libraries across the state, including UMASS. Items ordered through the Commonwealth Catalog can be delivered to GCC free of charge.

No luck with either CWMARS or Commonwealth Catalog? We can order it for you from another library outside of those networks. Fill out a form for Interlibrary Loan (it’s free!).

You don't have this thing, but you SHOULD have this thing!

We love to buy items our students, faculty, and staff need to be successful teachers and learners! We welcome all suggestions for purchases you think the GCC community would benefit from. Submit a purchase request form and we’ll get back to you!
