STEM Week: Lunch with an Astronaut GCC event

It's Massachusetts STEM Week! Cady Coleman is a former NASA astronaut retired colonel in the United States Air Force—and member of the GCC Board of Trustees! She flew twice on the Space Shuttle Columbia and spent almost six months living and working aboard the International Space Station. Come visit and hear about her adventures and find out what it is like to live in space. Free lunch!

If you've ever searched for your name on the internet, you've probably found a plethora of results listing your age, address history, relatives, phone number, voting record, etc. These are data brokers: companies that compile detailed profiles about individuals from public and private records and then sell that information to marketers, political campaigns—and even bounty hunters. They're also a boon to scammers, stalkers and doxxers. Join us in the library classroom to have a free lunch and get started opting your data out!

Seed Saving Workshop: Native Perennials

Outdoor Learning Lab

Join us for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn the art of saving seeds from native perennial plants. Led by Anthony Reiber, GCC Natural Resources Programs Coordinator, this workshop will cover everything from identifying and collecting seeds to processing, drying and storing them for future planting. You’ll also receive practical tips on cold stratification, sowing and germinating. Participants will have the opportunity to collect seeds from our outdoor learning lab. By saving seeds from native plants, you help preserve local biodiversity, support pollinators and contribute to healthier, more resilient ecosystems. Everyone is welcome—come grow with us! Hosted by Hope's Seed Library. Meet in S338 in case of rain.
