The GCC Math department is one of the most innovative in the state, incorporating collaborative learning and student-initiated projects, and emphasizing teaching through multiple representations and appropriate technologies at all levels. As you browse our pages you will see that we offer a broad range of courses from basic arithmetic to linear algebra. Our departmental philosophy reflects our approach to teaching. At GCC we want to provide math opportunities that suit the educational needs of as many students as possible. You will notice that we have a wealth of opportunities for students to get support in their math studies. In particular, we have created The Math Studio, a room equipped with tables and comfortable chairs, computers, white boards, reference texts, and math manipulative tools, in which students and faculty work together out of class to enhance the learning of mathematics. It is a welcoming and exciting space that has proven to be enormously helpful to our students. Academic support is also readily available from the Math Assistance Program. Our teaching philosophy and the facilities we provide in the Math Department are supported within a diverse campus. GCC is a close-knit community where individual student needs are recognized and learning opportunities are enhanced.
