FAQs

Where is the Peer Tutoring Program?
We are located on the 4th floor of the Core. But due to the Corona virus and until further notice, peer tutors and staff are working remotely.  Currently, peer tutoring takes place in a virtual environment only.

Who uses tutors?
Everyone is welcome! Tutoring is for students who have been out of school for a while and need to brush up, students who are struggling in a course and need ongoing support, and students who are doing well in a course and need to clarify a few points.

What courses?
Tutors are available for all English and math courses, as well as most other courses offered at the college. They can help with writing assignments, research, calculator and computer use, study skills, reading, and test preparation.

Who are the tutors?
Tutors are Greenfield Community College students who have been successful themselves in the courses they tutor and have been recommended by the faculty. Tutors receive ongoing training from tutor coordinators in effective tutoring skills.

What happens in a tutoring session?
Students come to tutoring sessions with their questions and course materials. Tutors help students work through material, class notes, texts, and assignments. Tutors are trained to listen, ask questions, provide feedback, and assist students in the learning process.

How much does it cost?
All peer tutoring is free!

How do I schedule an appointment?
To schedule a virtual appointment, use the “Request an Appointment” button at the top of this page (preferred method), or call 775-1330. Planning ahead is encouraged, but some appointments may be available on short notice. We will communicate via phone, text, and GCC email.
