No matter what your field of study, you can benefit from having functional proficiency in a world language.

GCC offers options for dual credentialing that can make a difference for you, both in college and the workforce.

Certificate in World Language

This certificate provides you with the knowledge and skills in language and culture to attain functional proficiency in spoken and written French or Spanish. You can use these skills to
complement any area of study in the 21st century. For students looking to join the workforce after graduation in healthcare/nursing, emergency services/EMS or criminal justice/law enforcement, there is an option to complete the certificate with a specialized Spanish course for their chosen field. For students planning on transfer, the certificate, in combination with your associate degree, positions you for continued study in the language at the four-year institution: a language major, a double major with another field or a language minor. It also includes the coursework that fulfills customary university four-semester language requirements. This allows students to follow the advice of transfer specialists—to complete any future language requirement before transfer.

Global Seal of Biliteracy™

The Global Seal of Biliteracy™ is a credential for academic and employment purposes that celebrates language skills and expands future opportunities for its recipients. Through proficiency assessment, it enables you to showcase your language skills to any school or employer across state lines and national borders. NOTE: Documented language ability can get you salary differentials in many fields!
