Clinical Performance & Evaluation ID: 751 Evaluation of clinical course outcomes will occur at the clinical site, lab, simulation and service learning. Service learning commitments must also be fulfilled, as they are a part of clinical. Each clinical evaluation tool describes the required course outcomes. They are maintained on file and may be reviewed with the appropriate faculty members. Clinical evaluations are completed at mid-term and the end of each course. Students are expected to achieve a minimum of “Developing” by midterm and “Accomplished” by the end of the clinical course. If performance is documented as “Beginning” or “Not Demonstrated” at midterm the student must demonstrate satisfactory and consistent improvement in this area in order to pass the clinical rotation. A Clinical Improvement Plan must be submitted to the clinical instructor within one week of the evaluation if a “Beginning” or “Not Demonstrated” is identified. The instructor will perform an additional evaluation specifically targeting the areas needing improvement to determine satisfactory progress towards outcomes prior to the final clinical evaluation. If an outcome(s) is/are not met by the end of the course, the student will receive a clinical failure and cannot continue in the program. Rating Scale 100% – Exemplary — Consistently demonstrates this competency at a high level with independence and expertise 80% – Accomplished — Frequently demonstrates this competency with minimal guidance 60% – Developing — Demonstrates this competency inconsistently and requires moderate guidance 40% – Beginning — Struggles to demonstrate this competency and requires significant support 20% – Not Demonstrated — Does not demonstrate this competency Clinical failure can occur at any time during or at the end of the rotation in the event of lack of progress toward course outcome attainment.
