Advanced Placement ID: 619 GCC offers advanced placement into the Associate Degree Nursing (RN) program to licensed practical nurses possessing a current unencumbered Massachusetts license. This applies to students who have successfully completed the PNC program and obtained licensure as a practical nurse (LPN). There are two LPN-to-RN advanced placement options. LPN-to-RN Advanced Placement Option 1 The LPN is applying to enter into the ADN program beginning with the second semester courses NUR 106 and NUR 108 of the ADN program Acceptance is on a space available basis Applicant must be a Licensed Practical Nurse in good standing by time of enrollment Requirements GCC Application High school transcript or GED GCC PNC graduate within past five (5) years or successful completion of GCC Fundamentals of Nursing (NUR 101) final exam with a grade of 77% or better within two (2) years of entrance Math requirement Placement assessment above requirement for MAT 096/014 or MAT 120 within seven (7) years OR complete one of the following: MAT 014 or MAT014s (Preparatory Course for Statistics), MAT096 (Intermediate Algebra) or MAT 120 (Problem Solving for STEM) A higher level math course at GCC within seven (7) years An equivalent or high level math course at a previously attended college with a grade of a C+ or better within seven (7) years Complete all first semester required non-nursing courses BIO 215 (Anatomy and Physiology I) with a C+ or better within 7 yrs ENG 101, 103 or 105 (English Composition I) with a C or better PSY 101 (Principles of Psychology) with a C or better GPA of 2.0 or better Complete all Massachusetts Department of Public Health and nursing program required immunization and health requirements CORI Drug screen National Background Check NUR 111 (Introduction to Nursing Process) Please refer to the Practical Nursing Certificate and Associate Degree Nursing program web pages for more information. LPN-to-RN Advanced Placement Option 2 The LPN applying for Option 2 is for entrance into the ADN program beginning with the third semester courses NUR 203 and NUR 201 Acceptance is on a space available basis Applicant must be an LPN in good standing by time of enrollment Requirements GCC Application High school transcript or GED GCC PNC graduate within past five (5) years OR Complete the following nursing exams within two (2) years of entrance NUR 101 (Fundamentals of Nursing) final exam with a grade of 77% or better ATI Pediatric Nursing 2023 Proctored Exam with a level 1 or higher score ATI Maternal Newborn Nursing 2023 Exam with a level 1 or higher Math requirement Placement assessment above requirement for MAT 096/014 or MAT 120 within seven (7) years OR complete one of the following: MAT 014 or MAT014s (Preparatory Course for Statistics), MAT096 (Intermediate Algebra) or MAT 120 (Problem Solving for STEM) A higher level math course at GCC within seven (7) years An equivalent or high level math course at a previously attended college with a grade of a C+ or better within seven (7) years Complete all first and second semester required non-nursing courses BIO 215 (Anatomy and Physiology I) with a C+ or better within seven (7) years BIO 216 (Anatomy and Physiology II) with a grade of C+ or better within seven (7) years ENG 101, 103 or 105 (English Composition I) with a C or better PPSY 101 (Principles of Psychology) with a C or better PSY 217 (Human Growth and Development) with a grade of C or better within seven (7) years SOC 101 (Principles of Sociology) with a grade of C or better GPA of 2.0 or better Complete all Massachusetts Department of Public Health and nursing program required immunization and health requirements CORI Drug screen National Background Check NUR 112 (Introduction to Professional Nursing and Nursing Process) Please refer to the Practical Nursing Certificate and Associate Degree Nursing program web pages for more information.
