Attendance & Participation (ADN) ID: 802 Participation in all scheduled nursing program activitiesāincluding classes, skills labs, clinical experiences, conferences, and service learningāis essential for academic and professional success. Students are expected to arrive on time, actively participate and remain for the full duration of each activity. General Attendance Guidelines Students are responsible for all material covered during any missed activities, including classes or assignments referred to as āclass tickets.ā Additional attendance information speciļ¬c to each course can be found in the respective course syllabus. Skills/Simulation Lab/Clinical Attendance Policy Expectations: Clinical attendance is mandatory for meeting course objectives. Clinical attendance includes the patient care setting, lab, simulation, and Service Learning. Missing more than 12% of required clinical hours due to absence will jeopardize a studentās ability to successfully complete the course. Students are expected to arrive at clinical, lab, and simulation fit for duty. Any student deemed unfit for duty (out of uniform, sick, having had worked within the last 12 hours, or otherwise impaired) will be sent home and receive an absence. Activities that are tied to program outcomes are required to be made up to successfully graduate. Students missing more than 12% or missing an activity tied to a program outcome will be required to make up that time if available. It cannot be assumed that clinical make up time will be available due to course time allotment and constraints, clinical contract agreements, and personnel availability. Students missing more than the allowed hours can fail the course. Make up of hours will be accomplished by written assignment, virtual or live simulation, or actual clinical hours appropriate to the course and missed hours and with approval of the course coordinator. Any clinical/lab cancellation due to faculty absence during a clinical/lab rotation will be required to be made up prior to the end of the semester. Notiļ¬cation: Students must notify their clinical instructor of any planned absence or tardiness before the simulation lab, skills lab or clinical day begins. Failure to notify the instructor in advance will result in a written progress note.
