All posted content becomes immediately searchable, shareable, and potentially permanent. Students must act thoughtfully, protect confidentiality, and adhere to professional and ethical standards, including those outlined in HIPAA regulations. Key Guidelines for Social Media Use Confidentiality and Privacy Do not disclose or use confidential information about patients, faculty, staff, clinical sites or other individuals. Protect the privacy of others and ensure all communication complies with HIPAA regulations. Prohibited Actions GCC nursing students must NOT: Share or post photos of faculty, staff, patients,or clinical facilities Post faculty content Identify themselves as being present at a clinical site Share or post any information or experiences related to clinical sites, patients, or care provided Engage in social media, texting, or emailing during didactic, clinical, lab, or exams Academic Honesty and Integrity All forms of communication, including social media, improper use of artificial intelligence must comply with the program’s academic honesty, integrity and confidentiality policies. Consequences of Violations Posting identifying or confidential information, or violating this policy, will result in dismissal from the nursing program.
