Service Learning

ID: 672

Service Learning has been a part of the Associate Degree Nursing Program for more than 35 years. Greenfield Community College recognizes and supports service learning under the umbrella of civic engagement.

Students are required to complete four (4) hours in the fall semester and six (6) hours in the spring semester for the academic year. Community health concepts are woven into all of the nursing courses. Nursing students engage in meaningful community-based projects that benefit both the student (learning) and the community (service). Students are required to reflect on the nature of their service within the community and how their service might contribute to a more permanent resolution of community health concerns.
