Intern Responsibilities

Desktop support: Configuration,imaging, testing of PCs; installation, configuration, updating, patching and upgrading software; integrating classroom/event space computers with audiovisual and Smartboard systems; troubleshoot software problems and provide support. Help Desk support: answering phones, triaging and/or creating appropriate Help Desk tickets; support for students and employees; and following up on any appropriate support Help Desk tickets as time allows.

What you wanted from the internship

I wanted to establish an understanding of how to use my individually learned technology skills from GCC in a professional work environment.

What was most challenging?

Using creative problem solving to counteract technology issues that would come up during a task, or to meet the needs of users that needed additional support beyond what was initially asked.

What did you find most useful as a student? How did it connect to your classroom learning?

My classroom learning is what led me to be able to effectively learn in the internship; without the course content, the material and skills covered in my internship would have been lost on me, and in turn, learning more advanced technology skills allowed me to go above and beyond what I was taught in my classes.

What was most fun?
